DSC provides services and systems that automatically call households checking on residents to ensure they are OK.
This service allows citizens to remain in their homes later in their lives (Aging In Place). CARE can re-dial the number several times and if there is no response, a message can be provided to family members or a monitoring center informing them that a resident is not responding to this call.

"The North Charleston Police Department was formed in 1972 with 19 Police Officers, and five support personnel. Today, the department employs over 300 sworn officers and 100 civilian employees who proudly serve a growing population of approximately 90,000 that swells to over 200,000 during the daytime hours accommodating workers, visitors, tourists and shoppers.
The North Charleston Police Department's mission is to provide professional public safety services while working in partnership with the citizens of North Charleston to identify, prevent and solve the problems of crime, social disorder and neighborhood decay, thereby improving the quality of life in our community.

The City Of North Charleston Police Department uses the CARE (Call Reassurance) phone system from Database Systems Corp. to provide its senior citizens with a telephone reassurance service. The North Charleston Police Department was a prior user of the RUOK® system from Northland Innovation Corp. and opted to replace this system with our Care (Call Reassurance) phone system when this older system developed problems and stopped operating.
Senior citizens of North Charleson can be called daily, free of charge, to ensure their well-being.

Emergency Notification - Phones and Networks
DSC provides emergency notification phone systems and community alert services that automatically call residents checking to ensure their well-being.
This automatic phone service can re-dial the number several times and if no one answers, an alert message can be provided to a monitoring center informing them that the called individual is not answering this call or the individual requires assistance.
These programs are effective and have helped residents who were unable to request assistance when an emergency arises.
